Prescriptions
Our recommended physicians can prescribe diagnostic tests, treatment or surgery.
These services are classed as exempt, non-exempt or special services.
* exempt services: Services that can be directly prescribed by our recommended physicians and provided without having to be authorised beforehand.
* non-exempt services: After prescription by any recommended physician, you will need to get authorisation over the telephone or from Sanitas offices.
For telephone referral authorisation, you can use our Telephone Referral Authorisation Service, as follows:
1. Dial 902 101 201 (Telephone Referral Authorisation Service). Lines are open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 10 pm
2. Give us the following details from the document that your physician will have given to you:
* Sanitas membership card number
* Number outlined in red on the document
* Prescribed service
* Perforated number on the referral form
3. We will give you the numbers that you have to enter in the empty boxes on the back of the document.
* Service code
* Authorisation number
* Code and details of service provider
