Sanitas Health Plan Basic - Spain health insurance / medical insurance / seguro médico Sanitas ( BUPA Group )

Health insurance available nationally offered via the Sanitas healthcare network - principally created for foreigners living along the Spanish Mediterranean coast, the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands and who want to have medical consultations covered. It is the easiest and cheapest way to obtain access to private doctors and specialists, without taking out a full insurance plan.

Joining age 0 - 69 ... no upper limit for retaining membership! (surcharge - new members / recargo - nuevos socios)

Spanish policyholders are also welcome!

How does Sanitas Health Plan Basic work?

The policyholder;

* can use his / her Sanitas card to go to the Sanitas healthcare network in Spain (access to GP or specialist without waiting). Sanitas will take charge of 100% of the cost of the services in the Sanitas doctors' network - the member does not pay anything up front.

* has access to bilingual telephonic assistance 24 hours a day: help, advice or anything related to your policy (English/Spanish)

* will receive documentation in English / Spanish - general and particular conditions, user guide etc

* has access to special doctors network - indicating the languages spoken by the doctors (in English, Spanish and German)

* contributes to the cost of services (Copayment costs)

Cover

National healthcare cover in doctors' consulting rooms for:

* Primary healthcare eg GPs

* Specialists

* Diagnostic and therapeutic methods

In general the cover is for everything except hospitalisation any surgical operations or prosthesis of any description. Cover for maternity (including pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal) is excluded. Members can pay a surcharge of X euros to be covered for check-ups, ecos etc during the pregnancy, however childbirth is not included).

* No waiting periods

Can you 'transfer in' from another Sanitas policy?

Yes - from Sanitas Básico, Sanitas Multi and Sanitas Mundi - your waiting periods will be honoured. Your 1 year disputability period will not apply if it has been completed under the previous policy.

Can you 'transfer out' from Sanitas Health Plan Basic to Sanitas Multi, Sanitas Mundi or Sanitas Oro? Yes, but the waiting periods for these products will apply. The disputability period will not apply if it has already been completed. A new health declaration will be required.

Any existing conditions in one policy will apply to the new policy.
